A plain bowl of kûrbúl — hide boiled and moulded hard — covering the crown of the head and nothing else. Leaving the face and ears open costs protection but keeps sight and hearing unimpaired, which is why it carries none of the perception penalty a fuller helm does. It is the cheapest head protection worth the name, and the one a levy or a caravan guard is most likely to own.
