Inkwell, glass

Fine blown glass inkwell for wealthy scholar or scribe.

A small inkwell of fine blown glass, pale and nearly transparent, fitted with a ground-glass stopper to seal the ink from air and prevent evaporation. An expensive luxury for the wealthy scribe or scholar working at a desk, it is impractical for travel due to breakage risk. The glass allows the ink level to be seen at a glance and preserves the ink’s color and quality better than ceramic or metal vessels.
