Berries

Dried berries gathered in summer and dried on cloth or woven frames, tart and bright in winter cooking. A forager’s bounty becomes a merchant’s commodity, bundled for travel and trade; they re-hydrate in stews or sweetened with honey for puddings. The dried fruit keeps through seasons and provides precious variety in a diet of bread, grain, and salt meat.
