Buns

Small, round loaves of sweet or savory dough from the baker’s oven, soft-crumbed and often studded with dried fruit or herbs. Buns are market fare and festival food, sold warm by street vendors or kept fresh for a day by a household. Children and laborers eat them as an easy meal, and travelers buy a dozen for the road to soften into porridge with water if hard bread fails.
