A pair of bronze hoops, cast or drawn stiff, and hard enough to keep their shape where a softer wire would pull open and drop from the ear. They are cheap, heavy for their size, and common among sailors and drovers, who lose ornaments often enough not to want good ones. Bronze at the ear turns the skin faintly green in hot weather.
