Honey, pot

A gallon pot of honey—a winter’s supply for a household or a merchant’s trade good. The heavy stoneware vessel keeps the honey fresh through the year, and the vessel itself may be reused for butter, grease, or preserved fruit. Beekeepers trade entire pots to lords and monasteries as rent-payment.
