The sheath horn of cattle and the antler of deer and elk, cut into lengths and sold by the pound. Horn splits and plates more kindly than bone and can be softened in hot water and pressed flat, which is why combmakers, hafters and lantern-makers prefer it; it is worth about twice what bone fetches. It is not ivory, which comes from far away and costs many times more.
