Perfumed resins—frankincense, myrrh, or costly eastern spices—ground fine and blended, then sold by the ounce. Priests burn it in temple braziers and on personal shrines; wealthy households and merchants scent their chambers, and traveling performers use it to mark holy or festive occasions.
