Necklace, bronze

Heavy bronze torc or chain; hard-wearing, and old among the tribal peoples.

A heavy bronze torc or chain, four ounces at the neck and hard enough to take years of it. Among the tribal peoples a bronze neck-ring is a mark of standing rather than a trinket, worn open at the front and bent to fit; in the towns it turns up as cheap chain sold by weight. Old bronze goes a deep green and is often left that way deliberately.
