Steel of Khazárian make, won by a crucible process the smiths of that people do not share. It is uniform where common steel is streaky, takes a harder temper without becoming brittle, and holds an edge through work that would dull an ordinary blade. It commands several times the price of common steel and is bought by weight, in small bars, by any weaponsmith who can afford it.
