A prescribed ritual act performed to earn — or maintain — the favour of a deity. This covers the whole range of divine observances a character offers, from the everyday rites that keep them in good standing to a blessing (or, turned about, a curse) called down on a person or thing in answer to prayer. The correct rite, correctly performed, is what keeps a character in good standing with their god.
