Metalcraft is the everyday smith’s trade: the tools, fittings and household metal that a settlement cannot function without. Nails, hinges, pot-hooks, ploughshares, cauldrons, horseshoes, chain. It is the skill that keeps a manor working, and it is the substrate under half the other crafts — the fletcher’s arrowheads, the lockmaker’s wards, the armourer’s plate all begin here.
Crafting
Ironmongery is made by the common crafting routine — workshop, expense, test, result, masterwork rolls, repair. What follows is what is particular to the forge.
Test. A Metalcraft Success Value test, read on the standard ladder, made after the cost and time below have been spent. Weapons marked [M] are made by the weaponmaking routine instead, and Metalcraft serves as a Secondary Modifier in making metal armour.

Cast lead sling bullets and crossbow spanners are Metalcraft work too, and a spanner made well enough to carry a masterwork modifier raises the draw its user can manage by a tenth per point.
