Dagger

A short double-edged blade of four to six inches, set in a simple cross-guard and wrapped hilt, worn at the waist as a sidearm or thrust into a belt-sheath. Equal parts defensive parry and offensive stab, the dagger serves as off-hand ward against a larger weapon or as a last resort in close quarters. Nobility and soldiers alike carry one; a farmer may own one for camp work.
